Dear Fort Stevens Families,
Welcome back to school! On behalf of the wonderful staff of Fort Stevens Elementary School, we are excited to see you and work alongside you this coming school year! Our teachers and staff are passionate, caring hardworking and committed to helping all students meet their potential. We are looking forward to another great year and a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can continue to be lifelong learners. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know we will do our very best to carry out our responsibility. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience.
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
- Completes any homework assignments given by teachers
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports
An important part of a successful school year is having our students follow basic rules that keep them and others around them safe. Fort Stevens Eagles SOAR. This means that we teach students to Self-regulate, Overcome challenges, Act with Integrity and Respect everyone. School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a systems approach, establishing the social, cultural and behavioral supports needed to create a safe and effective learning environment.School Arrival Times
Student should arrive on campus each day about 20 minutes before the final morning bell. The final bell signals the start of school at 9:15 M, T, Th, and F. Beginning September 21st , Wednesday start time will be one hour late start with students arriving at school by 10:15 am. Late start Wednesdays provide a time for our instructional staff to meet as a Professional Learning Community. Please have your children here each day on time.Dismissal Procedures
We strongly encourage all students to ride the bus home from school each day. Teachers will follow the dismissal plans that parents submit at the beginning of the year on a daily basis. We ask that you please fill out the transportation form that was sent via email. If you need a paper copy, please feel free to stop by the office or pick one up at Open House. Please be sure to complete this by Friday, September 2nd at the latest. Please notify the office before 2:00 pm IF your child’s dismissal procedures change in any way. Please do not wait until the end of the day to alert the school of a change in your child’s dismissal plans as these changes slow down the process for all students.I encourage you to become familiar with Yelm Community Schools website by visiting www.ycs.wednet.edu.
