    Dear Fort Stevens Families,

In September, we will welcome our students back to our beautiful school!  We are very excited for this! This past year was full of many unknowns, but the one thing that stayed constant was the dedication of the staff at Fort Stevens. The Fort Stevens staff has always been committed to helping all students achieve academic success. Whether we were 100% remote, two days hybrid or four full days at school, our staff worked hard for the students, supporting them academically and building strong relationships.

The same level of commitment will continue this summer through the following learning opportunities:

Teaching on the Towel: Tuesday mornings, beginning June 29th and running through July 27th. We will meet at the Nisqually Pines Community Clubhouse from 8 to 10 a.m. Fort Stevens teachers will meet students and work on grade level skills.

Virtual Teaching on the Towel: Thursday mornings in July from 8 to 10 a.m. Students who want to connect virtually can do so and work on grade level skills with Fort Stevens teachers.

Fort Stevens Boot Camp: August 2nd – August 27th Students who received an invitation will be on campus for grade level learning. They will be meeting Monday through Thursday each week from 8 to 11 a.m.

There are many great things about Fort Stevens and one of them is that we are a No Excuses University Network School. Being a NEU Network school is about all of the people involved in a child’s education, making a commitment to the academic success of the student. We do this by working to build and refine the six exceptional systems which include a culture of universal achievement, standards-aligned instruction, collaboration, assessment, data management and interventions. We are so committed to this that each day, on the morning announcements, we read the NEU pledge as a school: We are committed to creating a school that knows no limits to the social, emotional and academic success of each student. Fort Stevens students will continue to soar, giving them opportunities to succeed throughout their lives.

We will keep our school website updated as we get closer to the school year beginning with any important information you may need.

We are all looking forward to a great school year. Have a great summer...See you in September!

    Lisa Crowell, Principal
