• Yelm Community School voters in Thurston and Pierce Counties will be asked to consider this replacement Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy to fund essential services and operations not funded by the state or federal government. This is not a new tax and will continue to fund staff and programs so all students, starting in Pre-K, are on a path to on-time graduation, continuing education and work. The levy is 13% of the district's budget or $15.3M (including loss of $2M in Local Effort Assistance) which includes resources in teaching & learning, arts & electives, athletics & activities, health & safety and operations & technology.

The school board approved the levy at a reduced amount of $2.25 per $1000 of assessed property value, reducing the total amount of local funds that can be collected each year over the next four years.  This will still require some cuts to the budget as costs of operating continue to increase.
