PAWS - Performing Awesome Wheeled Stunts

  • Paws1

Our unicycling group began in 2007 with 20 students performing in the Christmas in the Park parade. Since then, we have done 18 more parades with up to 49 unicyclists and have started doing school assemblies, basketball half-time shows, and other local performances. McKenna Elementary is very proud of their talented riders.

February 28th, 2015 the McKenna PAWS got the opportunity to travel to Ellensburg for their fifth time in 6 years.  Our group did a Central Washington University men's basketball game halftime show, swimming in Kittitas Memorial Pool and rock climbing at CWU’s 50 foot climbing wall.  We did a short tour Central’s campus via unicycle where Mr. Goss explained the process of college like what majors and minors are, dorms, and what buildings were used for the different subjects.

Special thanks to my mom that came along while suffering from breast cancer and all the parent chaperones especially Mrs. Olmsted that pulled the trailer full of unicycles.

The after school practices have changed to run from 3:00pm to 4:00pm due to many students participating in spring sports.  Our most recent performance was a halftime show for St. Martin's University in Lacey, WA.  The bigger our group gets, the more assistance will be needed with the students. If you would like to help with practices or performances, make sure you have filled out the Volunteer Application.  If you are a former McKenna unicyclist and would like to help, please fill out the volunteer disclosure form and the after school activity insurance form to the left and turn them in the the school office.
