Transfer requests for the 2025/26 school year are no longer being accepted.

2026-27 - Intra-District transfers will be accepted 2/4/2026-2/25/2026.

Application Window: April 1 - April 22, 2026 (applications received prior to 4/1/2026 will not be accepted)

Applications received after April 22, 2026 will not be considered until September 2026. Approval or denial of transfer requests is based on criteria outlined in board policy 3131 for resident and 3141 for nonresident students.

Washington State Choice Transfer Request Portal

For Yelm Community Schools students that would like to enroll in a school outside the Yelm Community Schools (including an online school), please use the Washington State Choice Transfer Request Portal.  This will release your student from Yelm Community Schools and allow you to submit your request to attend another school district.  Please contact your students' current to notify them of your intent to withdraw. 

Transfers are granted for one school year only and are not automatically renewed. Families wishing to remain at their non-resident school must remember to apply for a transfer each year, which may or may not be approved based on district criteria. Students without a transfer request submitted/received by the district on or before the last day of school in the current school year will be withdrawn for the following school year.

Falsification of an address, residence or conditions of living arrangements to obtain a school assignment may be cause for withdrawal of the student from that school. Written notice of withdrawal of the student will be sent to the parent/guardian and the resident school district. 

Something to think about before requesting a transfer is that our elementary schools have designated "feeder" middle schools. If you request an elementary school that feeds into a middle school outside of your home attendance school, you will either have to continue to request transfers and transport your child to and from school, or your child will have to separate from his or her peer group when moving up to middle school.
