You are headed to work, college or an apprenticeship post high school. Hopefully you’re also applying for scholarships! A letter of recommendation provides someone who DOES NOT KNOW YOU information from someone who DOES know you. They are great testimonials & references for opportunities to which you may be applying.

If you need a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, employer or someone else, they will appreciate getting some additional information from you before they write their letter. They will also appreciate you giving them ample time to complete it! Please refer to the "Steps to Request a Letter of Recommendation" for some helpful instructions and request forms or 'brag sheets' that you can provide to recommenders.

Remember, provide your recommenders with lots of information, give them plenty of time to write your letter, and remember to thank them when they provide the letter or reference.
