Get involved in the technical aspects of theater and performance art! This course is designed as an introduction to stagecraft. In this course, students will develop technical skills in costuming, stage make-up design and application, scenic painting, and set construction. OSHA-10 General Industry certification is pursued as a part of the course.

This course is designed to help students integrate and build upon concepts and skills acquired in “Intro to Stagecraft” and apply them to new concepts, such as lighting/sound operation and design. In this course students will design, draft, and render theatrical scenery, and obtain proficiency in the use of all the systems in YHS’s PAC, as well as develop other career and technical skills.

This course is designed to refine the concepts and skills acquired in previous courses (Intro to Stagecraft, Scenic Design) and provide students with the opportunity to research, design, develop, and build a fully realized play production of their own making. In this course students will study and respond to a variety of theater experiences, showcasing collaborative, analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
