School Performance Report

McKenna Elementary School is a welcoming, safe, student-centered, and collaborative learning environment.  In partnership with parents, students, and community leaders, YCS staff members are dedicated to helping all students meet performance expectations and achieve their full learning potential.
We welcome and encourage parents to be part of the process here at McKenna Elementary.  We greatly value your input and enjoy your presence in our school.  Please feel free to contact your child's teacher and/or the principal for more information on how to be involved.

The success of each child is our number one goal at McKenna Elementary. We appreciate the support and encouragement parents give to their children’s schooling.

The first McKenna school building was erected around 1890. Several buildings and remodels have existed over the years. Thanks to the passage of the February 2003 construction bond, a brand new McKenna Elementary opened in the fall of 2005. We are proud of our long history in the community and look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence into our second century.

The McKenna Elementary staff worked diligently to develop a comprehensive School Improvement Plan based on a variety of data. School improvement goals focus on reading, math, technology, and teacher collaboration and include detailed action plans for each. Action plans are updated on an annual basis.
