  • YHS Incident

Update: After a full investigation, it was confirmed a student brought a BB gun on campus. A 9th grade student videotaped the student displaying the gun in the backpack. The video was then posted on social media before lunch. A student saw the post and immediately reported it to a teacher who instantly called administration. Law enforcement was notified at the same time the student with the gun was detained by school administration and campus security personnel. The district sent an automated phone call to all families of Yelm High School. A message was also posted on Facebook and the district website as police were conducting their investigation. The student was arrested and removed from school. We want to thank the student, staff and administration for their quick response. Our first priority will always be student safety.

  • September is Attendance Awareness Month

Chronically absent students are more likely to fall behind in reading and math and less likely to graduate from high school. Addressing chronic absenteeism and developing good attendance habits is a solvable problem for which we all share responsibility.
