Thanks to the support of the Yelm community, the 18th annual Yelm Dollars for Scholars Auction was a tremendous success.
Intense bidding for both silent and live auction items resulted in remarkable opportunities for the YHS graduating class of 2013. With over $135,000 raised during the auction and more donations still coming in, graduating seniors who completed a DFS scholarship application will see some significant scholarships awarded in June.
This was a record year for the silent auction tables, generating over $14,000 alone. The raffles were a big hit, especially the “Best of Live” which gave the winning raffle ticket holder their pick of a live auction item. The lucky winner chose the $1,600 Microsoft Tablet technology package donated by Yelm School’s own technology guru Scott Ellgen and wife Linda.
The DFS scholarships, along with many other community and independent scholarships, will be awarded during the Yelm High School Scholarship Awards Night on Monday, June 3, at 6 p.m.
