Congratulations to YHS student Sarah Moore, who was named Student Journalist of the Year for Washington state! This title includes a $750.00 scholarship. Sarah had to put together a portfolio of work including photo journalism, writing, design, as well as transcripts and letters of recommendation. Sarah received her award in front of 2,000 student journalists from across the nation April 14 at the National JEA conference. Also taking home awards were: Lyra Bertels, Honorable Mention in yearbook design; Yasmin Jungbauer, Honorable Mention in computer art; and Jamie Jones, Superior in yearbook design.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Class of 2012 scholarship fund. With plenty of live and silent auction items, everyone was able to participate. Over $145,000 poured in from community members.

YHS boys and girls basketball players named in Narrows League 3A All League
Yelm FBLA placed in the top 5 places in 21 individual events and 5 team events. A total of 22 students brought home state qualifying awards which included 5 first place finishes. Students are preparing for state competition held in April.
