The Yelm Education Association (YEA) has voted to approve a “Day of Action.” This is a one day walk-out to protest the Legislature’s failure to adhere to the State’s Constitutional mandate to fully fund public education. The YEA has made it clear that this is not an action against the Yelm School District.
The Day of Action will take place May 27th. There will be no school that Wednesday or any school-related activities. We will still serve students 180 days by extending the calendar one day. Thursday, June 11th will now be a full day instead of a half day of school. The last day of school will be Friday, June 12th, which will be a half day of school.
The teachers plan a number of public activities around the area. If you have additional questions about the Day of Action or their events, please contact the YEA president, Mike Snodgrass at 360-359-1483.
