SCHOOL PERFORMANCE REPORTMISSION STATEMENTWe believe that education is a partnership with responsibility shared by all: school, family, students, and community. All individuals shall be provided a safe, positive environment where they may reach their fullest potential as lifelong learners and responsible citizens. ABOUT OUR SCHOOLFort Stevens Elementary is a K-6 school with 531 students. The building was established in 1990 and is in excellent condition. At Fort Stevens Elementary we take great pride in creating an engaging learning environment built on high expectations and the best instructional practices, assessments, updated curriculum, resources, and programs. We know all families send us their very best, and so we are dedicated to making your child's education a successful experience. SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN Our current School Improvement Plan has specific goals for the improvement of instruction in the areas of reading, math, and writing. By always being willing to change and improve our practices, we better ensure high levels of achievement. STAFFING Our staff is made up of 33 classroom teachers with an average of 10.6 years of teaching experience. Over 72.7% percent of our teachers have at least a Master’s Degree. We also have 34 classified employees who provide additional educational support. Our school employs a full-time counselor and part-time staff that includes a school psychologist, speech, physical, and occupational therapist. The school has a very active booster club that helps provide additional funds for educational programs and provides many extracurricular activities for students and families. The district has 400 booster club members and 152 active volunteers. “Regular building hours for teachers shall be one-half hour before school starts to one-half hour after school ends.” (Board Policy 5231) ATTENDANCEOur overall average attendance is 93.63%.
