FCCLA Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at Yelm Extension School encourages members to be involved in service to school and community, in addition to providing opportunities for members’ personal development as adults and leaders.

Mission:

The FCCLA mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.  Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and vocational preparation.

Planned Activities

Communty Activities
  • Provide a Harvest Fair for youngsters in the community on Oct. 31.
  • Paint a mural on the alley wall of the Yelm Bowling center
  • Food drive to benefit Yelm Food Bank
  • Lead "Pennies for Pupils" drive at YES, donate an item to the Dollars for Scholars auction and encourage YES students to apply for scholarships
YES School Community
  • Keep the commons area decorated, especially the bulletin boards; to include birthday board and a board to highlight studens/eniors
  • Plan and lead interactive activities for the whole school
  • Student art and/or talent shows for YES
  • Seasonal greetings/goodies for District Office
For the Group
  • Bowling after school
  • Make special shirts for the group members
  • Button making as fundraiser or just for fun

YES Food Drive
FCCLA/Leadership group holds successful Food Drive
 
Dec. 12, 2012 - The YES FCCLA/Leadership group held a successful food drive this past month. The students delivered 200 pounds of food to the Yelm Community Services Food Bank on Thursday, Dec. 13. The group thanks Yelm Community School's District Office for their participation in the food drive. Pictured is Dakota Bailey, Bobby Malm and Kristina Jones.

FCCLA/Leadership group offers Tie Dye workshop
 
Dec. 14, 2012 - The YES FCCLA/Leadership group invited YES students and staff to bring in items and learn to tie dye on Friday, Dec. 14. Staff and students enjoyed their "colorful" tie dye creations. Pizza was also part of the fun activities.
