Homework Packet with Attached Reading Log
Homework packets with an attached reading log are sent out every Monday. Please read with your child at least 20 minutes each night! This is part of your child’s nightly homework. Please help your child record and total his or her reading minutes on the reading log. The goal is for each student to reach 100 minutes every week. Students who read 400 minutes or more each month will be recognized in our monthly class newsletter, get a certificate and receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.  Thank you for your support!

Family News
Students create their own news each week.  This student generated newsletter goes out every Friday highlighting one event per day.  Please have your child read the news to you and return it on the following Monday.  Please make sure their name is on it and parent initials.  Thank you!

Family Journals

Students write in their family journals every Thursday.   Please have your child read this letter to you, then write back.  If they bring it back the next day they get to share it with the class!  There is a letter on the inside cover of the journal explaining this activity in more depth.

            Leveled Take-Home Books
Your child has the opportunity to check-out from my library daily as long as they bring back their last book and their reading folder is signed.  Every 10 books they read will be charted with stickers. After every 50 books they will get a free book from me!  Please don’t forget to count these minutes on your child’s reading log.  Your child should be reading this book to you fluently. Please continue working with your child on his/her reading fluency as these come home.  You can ALWAYS have them read it more than once.
